Main-Events for Speed Shears
Shearing a sheep where speed and style count! Speed Shears may be a little known sport outside of Australia, New Zealand and the UK but is phenomenally popular in these areas!
Main-Events was approached to run the secretarial side of a new local event, the Tinui Speed Shears held in March 2006.
With a week to spare, we took a Main-Events First Steps version (simplified event management program without the fees and advanced functions) and modified it to suit the requirements of shearers putting in last minute entries just before the class starts, tracking times and heat qualifiers.
On the night, we used a data show to display scores on the big screen as they were updated on the laptop with Main-Events. It was very exciting competition and great spectator sport – even for the uninitiated.
So Main-Events now has a version to run Speed Shear Competitions – and will be working on marketing this new brand to appropriate event managers in the future.
