Easy access to information
This website is being developed as a prototype for an open web application where members can
register and update horse records online in time.
.
.
The first step in the revitalising of the NZ Sport Horse Register was getting the data into a more modern
format collecting other information not found under the old database - for example email addresses! Email
wasn't in common use 18 years ago so it wasn't recorded in the database even in recent times.

Email in this version of the database on the other hand will play a big part. We intend most
correspondence to be by email and eventually your email address will be part of the secure login system
when you update your horse records. So our first problem is that all 550 past members of the NZ Sport
Horse Register do not have an email contact listed. We are depending on you getting the word out to get
as many of those people back into the system. Send us an email!
.
Information is power - especially when it is widely disseminated to people who can use it. If you want to
breed the next Charisma, you should be looking for the bloodlines that are already doing well in eventing.
And not just the sire. Analysis of the bloodlines is actually highlighting how important the sire of the dam
is.

Our next step is to begin to make information available online of horses already recorded so that others
can start to look up pedigrees and fill in gaps with their own horses breeding. Many of the horses and
breeders names you will see on these pages are no longer current but they may be the breeder of a horse
you own, or the sire of a mare you own.
.
In time, this will become a valuable tool for sport horse breeders and buyers looking for the best horses
possible for their purposes. There are still quite a few gaps in the information that is being put up on this
website. But it is a start. And if you can help fill in or correct details, please get in touch.
.
Eventually this information will be a two way communication process. At the moment, is it view only
bloodlines on the website. In time, you will be able to update your own information online. At this stage,
we are putting what we can on the web as html pages - a tedious process but better than what has
happened before! A full online register will be an expensive proposition so can only go ahead as interest in
the Register warrants it.
