Main-Events for Horse Owners
Longspring Sport Horses
Horse Owners software used with 100+ horses
Longspring Sport Horses was the base stud used to develop Main-Events for Horse Owners and is indeed being used as the operation for the development of the larger scale version for professional studs and training centres.
Rupert Vallance and his wife Anne started Longspring in 1982 with the importation of a Hanoverian jumping stallion in Distelfink. This sire went on to produce more top jumpers than any other stallion in New Zealand.
Anne started Main-Events Software in 1987 and remains an active part of the company today and of course is integral to the ongoing development of the Horse Owners version. Longspring runs over 100 horses … all tracked with Main-Events for Horse Owners. All information here also feeds their more than 100 pages website which has recently been overhauled (ongoing!) with old records of other owners horses to show how successful the Distelfink horses have been over the years.
Anne’s favourite part of Main-Events for Horse Owners? “Being able to produce a PDF 2 page report for a horse for sale with pedigree, performance and pictures that can be emailed to customers in under a minute! That and actually being able to go back and see how we ranked horses in loosejumping, attitude and condition over the years. It makes it easier for us to see real potential on an ongoing basis.”
Rupert wouldn’t be without the lists … lists of mares that are in foal, lists of mares that aren’t, lists of young stock coming up for sale, lists of young stock, lists of customers, lists of stallion progeny …. lists and more lists! All quickly printed out from the program.

“Thanks for the new version of the software – it works a treat and I’m impressed, and it records everything I need!!! I love the fact that I can have a photo of Georgia with all her details. In the past I have been writing in calendars, diary’s and a journal all my training notes, farrier appointments and all the rest, now I can do it all via my computer (and since I work at the bloody thing day and night it makes more sense!).”
